Single Pie Crust
Ingredients1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt 1/3 (rounded) cup of shortening 2-3 tbsp ice water |
MethodCombine flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut shortening into flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
1 tablespoon at a time, add ice water to flour mixture until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of bowl. Place dough on floured surface and knead gently for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Do not overwork. Roll dough out into a round about 1 inch larger than your pie plate. Place in greased pie plate. Double the recipe for a bottom and top crust. |
