Biscuits
Ingredients2 cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder 3/4 tsp salt 1/3 cup (rounded) shortening 2-3 tbsp milk |
MethodHeat oven to 450˚F. Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt until it resembles fine crumbs. Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves the sides of the bowl and rounds up into a ball.
Turn dough onto floured surface. Knead lightly about 10 times. Roll 1/2 inch thick, and cut with a floured 2 inch biscuit cutter or a glass. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart for crusty sides, touching for soft sides. Bake until golden brown, 10-12 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Makes about 8-10 biscuits. |
